Do you want to renew the floor? Here’s what to know!
You've bought a house and would like to make it feel more like home, so you decide to start by changing the floors. You want them to be more modern, lighter, warmer, and welcoming, but you're apprehensive about the work of dismantling the old and laying the new. You're concerned about the costs, and all of this makes you hesitant.
First, before thinking about the demolition of the existing with a tape measure in hand, measure the heights. If they exceed the required standard, which is at least 2.70 meters by at least 5 cm, breathe a sigh of relief. You can indulge and choose from all the types of articles that the market offers, and you'll have them laid over the existing ones. Normally, the heights are 10mm, to which glue and hypothetical mats, if required, are added. So, at this stage, let your imagination run wild and look for what suits you best. But if the heights are already at the limit, stop! But don't despair; you don't necessarily have to intervene drastically, quite the opposite. There are articles on the market that allow this type of intervention but with the characteristic of low thicknesses.
Let's start with resins; they have a minimal thickness and renew spaces in a modern and innovative way, bringing light and color, adapting spaces to existing furnishings, enhancing them, and making room for new ones.
@kerakoll innovation, color, and texture will give a colorful and modern touch to your home.
Another material that allows this type of intervention is LVT, an innovative material with easy application, carefully textured, usually simulating wood in plank form. This material is easy to lay, has various textures and colors, and thanks to its thickness, it allows good work on the existing floor. Be cautious with the 5mm minimum thickness; it can be affected by humidity and can read the subfloor, so evaluate the usage environment carefully.
There are companies that also produce reduced thickness porcelain tiles at 5mm; they can be large-format tiles with varied textures, stone, concrete, and resin effects.
